Christmas Mantel

This year I decided I wanted a little sparkle on my Christmas Mantel.  Don't we all just need a little sparkle in our lives once and awhile?  I mainly used what I had and only purchased a few small items.  To start I used three strands of garland to make it look really full.  Then I added several different sized pine cones and lights.  The lights were a clearance item from years ago.  They have a cage that fits over the light that is beaded so it makes each light look like a glowing ember.

I tried a few different things but it all came together when I found the pedestal glass container while thrifting.  It was missing it's lid so it was $2.  How could I not buy it?  I decided to add some more glass in the form of candlesticks and a small cloche.  The cute little clip on birds are from Joann's Fabrics.

I added a glitter Santa from my collection.  I at least needed one Santa on the mantle.   The JOY stocking hangers are Pottery Barn from years past.  No stockings yet.

The "fire box" inside part of the mantel is new.  I posted about how I used pallet wood to create it yesterday.  Click here to see that post.

I updated the lantern I have had for awhile with a coat of Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint.  It's also from Joann Fabrics. I stacked some books in the old drawer to set it on and added more faux greenery, pine cones and lights.

Here's what it looks like at night with the lights off.

I just need a glass of wine and Christmas music and it would be complete.  Lucky me I have both!
