Spring Wreath
First off I want to say thank you to all of you who left me such kind comments on my last post. Some of you are no reply comment bloggers so I wasn't able to respond directly to your comment. I wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate you. It has like getting big warm virtual hugs for the last two days. I could go on and on but I will leave it at that.
So for the last month or so I have been working on a new look for the blog with my girl Molly. The other day we were working on my about me section. I noticed it says that there is an occasional craft on this blog and I cant remember the last time I posted about a craft. So I thought it was time.
I picked up this wreath at a local thrift store and it obviously wasn't my taste but I kind of liked the shape. The poor little birdie had seen better days. His eyeball was on his back. I thought about saving him by gluing new feathers on him then I realized that was insane. He and the old flowers had to go.
I love using (free) natural elements in my decor and so I grabbed some twigs with lichen from the yard.
Then I made a little bird nest out of some grapevine garland I have had forever. I used about 9 inches of it and wired it into a nest like circle.
I added a little Spanish moss and lichen to the center then wired it to my wreath. At this point it was too much brown so I added some little yellow berry sprigs from my stash to give it some color.
It still needed something so I added a little chalkboard to the center. To make it I drilled a hole in a small scrap of 1/4" plywood and painted it with chalk board paint. I hung it with some rusty wire. For some more color I added a piece of green ribbon.
I made the wreath to sell in my shop space. I have made several different wreaths since Christmas. It's a craft I really enjoy. Our front door is in our dark carport so I drug an old door out in the sunshine for a photo op. I'm a little early with the Spring thing but oh well.
One question for you. (I mustache you a question) Does it remind you of a mustache when you look at it or is it just me? Maybe I will name it Tom Selleck.
