Rustic Plate Rack

Hey there how are ya?  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Mine was good, we hung around home and I was able to finish one project and start a few more.

I built another shelf.  I mentioned in a previous post that shelves are my favorite thing to build, I wonder why that is?  All I know is it's like therapy for me.  So I'm feeling pretty good right now;)

The whole shelf thing started about two years ago.  I built a bunch of them and went to a few Holiday bazaars to sell them.  It was a great experience for me.  I stepped out of my comfort zone and put my stuff out there.  At one of the Bazaars I met a photographer who told me that people aren't always ready to buy the first time they see things so if you really want to do this you need to make business cards and maybe a website so they can find you when they are ready. Great advice but I wasn't ready to do that yet.  Still not quite ready but maybe soon..... This blog world has made me realize how much I want it.  This sounds familiar doesn't it? So many of you out there have gone through or are going through a similar journey.  Every time I read someones story it inspires me a little more.

Ok back to the plate rack.

This plate rack is for my friend Michelle.  I staged it a few different ways with some plates I have.   As usual I broke one & chipped another.  Good thing the ones I broke were from a thrift store.  The blue and white plates were my husbands Grand parents.

Michelle's tastes are more modern so I can't wait to see what she does with it.  She wanted chrome hooks instead of pegs.  I think it would look great with some brightly colored or funky patterned plates also.

This shelf style is one of my favorites, it's simple, a little rustic-shabby chic, the perfect size to display a few of your fav plates or platters.  I painted it black and sanded the edges.  I used 1x4 pine for the sides and shelves, bead board for the back and few hooks.

I have been collecting creamers and I love how they look hanging on these hooks.  I can't wait to give it to her.  She's been waiting a while.

Thanks for reading!
